Day 1 in Nepal, and My First Video!
Well, I am on to my first full day here and it feels great!
Above is a small video I put together of the trip. Hopefully there will be more where that came from, and hopefully some great cycling shots!
The first win of the day was sleeping all the way through the night. The jet lag can be one of the toughest adjustments when traveling here and I am hoping I can stay on track tonight…
Then I hit the trails with Yak Attack founder Phil, Yak Attack Legend Neil and fellow Coloradan Eric for a little spin. While I love Kathmandu, the air quality is not the best, so it felt great to ride out of the valley and stretch the legs. We did a short two hour loop, (with the obligatory tea stop) and it was just what the doctor ordered. I think a little fresh Himalayan air did me good, I am finally feeling back to normal! It is such a relief to feel good on the bike again, and just in time!
Plus the new bike is riding great! I felt like a little kid chasing Neil (a notoriously good descender) down the hills and through little villages. That is until a nail punctured my tire just as I was turning onto a tarmac road and I slid on my carbon rim as if I was on ice. Luckily both me and the bike survived unscathed, but it certainly got my heart rate up!
That is all for now, but stay tuned for more as the race approaches!
